For the season 2018/2019, the Marigny Theatre is expanding and renewing itself to offer its clients a complete and unique experience. For its authentic halls, the theatre has once again relied on Quinette Gallay to rework its thousand seats.
The Marigny Theatre and Quinette Gallay
While the theatre had previously called upon Quinette Gallay to install its 1000 seats several years ago, it was quite naturally that the theatre contacted again the company’s experts to renovate and rework the foundations of its two rooms: the Grande Salle and the Salle Popesco.
The challenge for Quinette Gallay was to restore the chairs while improving their comfort and mechanical, normative and resistance performance. All this, while respecting the particularity of these ancestral and historical venues, and adapting to the rhythm of the other works in progress in these rooms that have been renewed from floor to ceiling.
Thus, in the Grande Salle, Quinette Gallay intervened on the renovation: undertaking the staining and varnishing of the beech-wood frames of the backrest of the “Comédie Française” armchairs already present. On the balconies, the Tokyo BR chairs have been redesigned to improve the tiering and therefore the visibility of the stage from this location.
Similarly, the « Tokyo BR » chairs in the Popesco room have been redesigned to improve the seating of the room.
The work was completed in September 2018, allowing the Marigny Theatre to reopen in November 2018 to provide the public with its brand new environment.
The Marigny Theatre
Inaugurated in 1894, the Marigny Theatre asserts its reputation by hosting various performances of plays by great authors such as Anouilh, Shakespeare… As a sumptuous venue, the place will also be requisitioned for the organization of several Molières ceremonies.
Classified as a historical monument in 1990, the theatre closed its doors in 2013 for major rehabilitation and renovation work. From the exterior facade to the floor of the interior rooms, the theatre has been revamped, updated on accessibility standards and technical equipment and has even taken the opportunity to expand its space by opening its own restaurant.
